Case study-Queen Esther.

ENTP’s, otherwise known as the ” Debaters” are dynamic individuals that speak their mind and have a natural air of confidence. Queen Esther was one such person and we shall be looking at her general personality make up in this article and how it played a great role in her reign as Queen. Just to mention a few Historical and modern day ENTPS, Theodore Roosevelt, Leonardo Davinci, Benjamin Frankline, Alexander the Great, Socrates, Tom Hanks and Neil Patrick Harris.

So, let’s get to it.

ENTP BREAKDOWN

1.] EXTROVERTED

This means that this type of individual derives his or her sense of recharging by hanging out with exuberant personalities such as themselves, especially when stressed or when faced with a problem that needs solving. They derive their energy from others.
Intuitive.

2.] INTUITIVE.

They are deep thinkers and ” see ” the world from a ” God’s Eye View”.They are interested in learning the “why” behind the “what” and have no difficulty facing the truth, even if it means admitting that they are incorrect, as long as they have a deeper grasp of the subject.

They use their heads in making decisions and not just their feelings. They reason out things using facts and not feelings.

4.] PERCIEVING
They are spontaneous both in thoughts and actions and are easily bored by anything that is understood too fast.

POSITIVE ENTP TRAITS.

1.] Brave.
When facing the King, her husband, King Xerxes, it was a royal decree at the time that whoever went to see the King unannounced, would face death unless the King raised his staff and the visitor touched the top of it. Esther barged in to see King Xerxes despite knowing this, an act that came as a necessity. Haman, one of the King’s high officials had it against Jews and had decided to fill the King’s treasury with an enormous figure (one unheard of before unless one was the actual king), making him one of the richest non-Jew known in history. He hated Mordecai, Esther’s uncle, and his inability to bend his knee to him, thus, not respecting Haman’s authority. For a brazen man like him, one can only imagine what that did to his ego. It gave him more fire to hate the Israelites, hence his campaign. Queen Esther, unable to do anything after receiving the news about Haman’s plans decided to confront the issue head-on.She faced the King after receiving encouragement from Mordecai and having faith in God that He would hear her prayers via the three-day fast she had commanded Mordecai and the Israelites to observe. After the King raised his staff, she was relieved and allowed to live another day. She was asked to make a request, and she requested a private meeting with the King twice in her rooms, with Haman nearby.  It was in this meeting that she exposed Haman who was held down by the guards after he attempted to physically assault Esther. Esther demonstrated bravery all through, even though she was childlike.

2.] Great Conversationalist.

Esther was able to easily convince the King to listen to her when she barged into his presence unannounced. She managed to plead for the lives of the Israelites at the banquet that she arranged for Haman and the King. It was here that she managed to convince the King to spare the lives of the Israelites, arrest Haman, and kill off those that wanted to mass murder the Israelites.
I mean…with such an agenda, you must have very good wordplay to pull that off.

3.] Charismatic.

Esther exuded energy and confidence that made her a special selection in the sea of virgins that were presented to the King. She was playful, as a child, a great storyteller, very seductive in her innocent mannerisms, and someone that the King ended up respecting as well as growing in fondness for. She grew into the role of Queen of the Israelites first by ordering a fast of three days to give her strength to save their lives, she barged into a historic entrance to the King in a plea to save her people, she was Queen in action and words through and through in her reign. Nobody doubted her role, something only the charismatic can do.

4.] Quick Thinker and Creative.

In a time of great distress under King Xerxes for the Israelites, Queen Esther could have blundered and made her request at the point of the King’s throne. But she was intelligent and unlike most women, she did not fall into the despair of her feelings even when she was going through a torrent of them. Instead, she was factual, thought like a “man”, and decided to make her request after entertaining the King in a private affair. Even more so, she knew the King never walked without guards and called the enemy of the Israelites, Haman, to the banquet with the King. It was at this banquet that she laid her trap, exposed Haman’s plan, and got him caught by the King’s guards. This not only demonstrated intelligence but wisdom as well. Not only that, it demonstrated strength, especially in women who we know to fall easy prey to their feelings at most times. The fact that she never acted using them and wore the crown of millions of Israelites on her head at a time of urgency shows that she truly was worthy of respect for her intelligence at a dire moment that was time bound.

5.] Curious.

Queen Esther was very curious. It was her curiosity that made her learn so much about King Xerxes in such a short amount of time. She was aware of his fondness for attractive ladies, so she had her maidens make her appear the part. She knew the King enjoyed educated talk, so she was always thinking of fresh themes to keep him interested. She knew the King enjoyed entertainment, so she usually prepared entertaining stories for him.

She was a master of suspense, which had the King coming back for more of the stories she recounted, which she purposefully left on a cliffhanger. She was playful and childlike in personality unlike all the other virgin girls in the palace, something that made her stand out, and something that she realized made her servants fond enough of her to tell her what she needed to know about what they had learned about the king so far. Her curiosity for knowledge and ability to use this knowledge to get the King’s heart showcases wisdom beyond her years.

NEGATIVE ENTP TRAITS.

1.] Procrastination.

In most cases, procrastination is a bad thing though Queen Esther used this negative trait in herself to buy time for God’s intervention in her Israelite-massacre problem. She asked for three days of Israelite fasting and decided to wait on a problem that required urgent attention. Could be she was scared, could be she knew that God’s timing was the best…for what it was worth, she decided to bid her time on the matter. Most ENTP’s however procrastinate because they are busy gathering more and more information before producing an action. What some would call, “analysis paralysis”, is usually a consequence of the ENTP perceiving nature.

2.] Non-conformity.

ENTPS are generally non-conformists in nature. That is, they go about their way of doing things and thinking. This was used to her advantage at the time since unlike the other Virgins in the palace, she gained the fondness of the servants due to her childlike nature. Something completely different from what the palace servants expected. Since they knew that Queens had to act with severity and pride. Esther was the complete opposite and was a friend to everyone. In today’s sense of this trait as a more complex period of this era, ENTP’s aren’t afraid of letting their thoughts out even if they will not go well with their immediate superiors. They can’t help it; they just think outside the box and are completely true to their nature. An admirable quality, but possibly not the best quality when it comes to making friends with authority.

3.] Limited Focus.

Esther was in a situation where if she lost her focus, millions would die. She couldn’t dare do so. Unfortunately, though, for most ENTP’S, flightiness is part of their nature. With so much going on in their minds at once, they can’t help but jump from one idea to the next. And if the ideas involved actions, then they would jump from one activity to the next. For daily, menial things, this isn’t a bad trait as such…but it would be detrimental for huge projects.

4.] Insensitive.

It is not uncommon for ENTP’S to be taken the wrong way since they don’t really care what you think about their opinion and they will blatantly say what is on their mind, whether you like it or not. Esther showed this very well when facing Haman. The fact that Haman was the enemy meant that she could do and say what she liked in front of him without giving a care about what he felt like. Make no mistake, Haman was a powerful man. He was among the wealthiest men at the time and in history, he had the King’s command of the land. Everything he said was permitted as an extension of what the King said. Yet Esther, not yet Queen, who didn’t have as much power, still went on ahead to trick him into a meeting and got him caught by the King’s guards because she believed that her argument was just against her superior, Haman. To God’s credit, her insensitivity towards Haman and his opinions, feelings, or power worked to her benefit when she got what she wanted at the King’s banquet.

5.] Very Argumentative.

Queen Esther was playful. Too playful, but she showed tact when handling the King. This is not the case with most ENTP’S as they enjoy debating just too much to leave behind a good topic of discussion. If there isn’t one, they will find one. Arguing is their cup of tea and they do it with so much enthusiasm, it could be frustrating to anyone on the receiving end that cannot keep up. Luckily, this is not how Queen Esther presented her case. Otherwise, the Israelites would have been doomed.

BOTTOM LINE.

Remember the Gospel.

God loves us, but He is not crazy about us.
We are wallowing in our own sin for which we have no savior.
We should always repent and believe in the sacrifice of our God, Jesus Christ who was sent by God the
father to die for our sins, so we might get to have eternal life. [JOHN 3:16]
