PLEASURE EQUATES PAIN.
Before writing this article, I had a meditative experience that led me down a path of my past sins and the sins of the people I knew in my life. Using those experiences alone there was something that I noticed was akin to all of my misdeeds.
Only a few came from some kind of coercion or desperation, but for most of them, the repetitive kind of sins, there were only two things that were involved. Three if you count an obvious cause.
–Pleasure.
–Pride.
Inadequate fear in God.
The worst of the three is the former, pleasure. Because the mind has actual defenses against pride, and it can learn to fear God enough to avoid sin. But what kind of defense is there for pleasure?
PORTALS OF PLEASURE THAT THE DEVIL USES TO GET TO YOU
So regarding pleasure, how do we get tempted by the devil?
While I was researching this topic, I came around very many resources regarding this. Quite frankly, I was surprised that there was so much literature about it while I thought that I had found original content. Anyway. as my old Pharmaceutics lecturer used to say “Even if you invent something new, it will still not be new under this sun. Someone somewhere will have at least thought about it, even if he didn’t do anything about it.”
A very renowned pastor said something very eye-opening. It was a summary of the tactics that the devil usually uses to get to us individually.
We are all different groups of people with different ways of doing things and we have been raised in different circumstances with our current trajectory in life all different. No life story is and will be the same for all of us, yet we all commit most of the same kinds of sins, regardless of who we are and who we are becoming. Do you know why? Because the devil has access to these three things he will always have a strong hold on us.
The devil , therefore, uses one of these three sins to have a stronghold on us, or to a minimal extent, a “basic” sin.
-What we see.
-What we hear.
-What we touch.
What is this stronghold the devil has on us?
A stronghold is a habitual sin that seems to be the most difficult to stop committing. It is the one that makes you feel the most filthy doing and most especially, the filthy liking. You know that it will bring you nothing but heartache and destruction, yet for some reason, and even with the strongest will that you have ever managed to master, you have always had an issue leaving it behind.
The devil uses this stronghold to get you to sin. And the pathway to these strongholds is the three listed above.
-What we see.
-What we hear.
-What we say.
A.) WHAT WE SEE.
Our eyes are the windows of the soul. It is through the eyes that we can look to understand. We can perceive. We can discern. The eyes are the portals to wisdom if used well enough.
But they can always be the portals to your destruction if used for pleasure.
Most of the activities we enjoy doing can only be enjoyed fully when our eyes are involved. That is why social media, video games, movies, and entertainment shows are so addictive. Because it is through our eyes that the most important aspect of being a creative creature is tapped into….our imagination.
Without imagination, we would have no art, no paintings, no movies or video games, no inventions, no projects…nothing. Even the dark arts of magic need imagination and strong belief to make a spell work, it cannot work on its own. That is how powerful your imagination is. And the portal to the imagination is your eyes.
This is where most of us are caught by the devil. We tend to think that whatever we put in our minds is harmless to us. That we have the power to choose what our brains choose to store or not. To some extent, that is consciously possible, but for the most part, our subconscious stores’ information that even we are not aware of. That is where the intricate roots of who we are as individuals are stored. And everything is stored there, everything we see, everything we hear, everything we believe…it is all in the subconscious. This is why when they said that the eyes are the windows to your soul, they were to some extent right about that. What we see, has deep roots in who we become because the subconscious will always remember, even if you consciously do not.
Job must have realized this from an early age since his level of righteousness had strong ties to the fact that he not once, ever looked at any girl sexually.
[Job 31:1-I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?]
He must have realized that that was the easiest way the devil could get him to do what he wanted, and he quickly learned to tame them. To control where they went, that way, he would not be a disgrace to God.
Jesus, Himself said,
[Mathew 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.]
As we had discussed earlier on what the soul is, (a combination of both the body and the mind), it seems to me that Jesus made righteous judgments on the soul, while God the Father made righteous judgments on deeds as evidenced by the 10 commandments where He always said ” Do not”…Do, standing for doing a certain action. Christ extended further to “Think not” as He understood, that for believers to remain in love for others and God in a world as corrupt as this because He understood human beings since He was one, He had identified where the problem began. Before there are fruits of action, there must be fruits of thought. What we imagine is thought. What we see has an impact on our imagination which has an impact on our thoughts. Therefore, we control what we see, and most importantly, “How we see”.
So how do we take back control of our eyes?
-Intentionally avoid looking at anything that instigates the feeling of erotic pleasure.
Emphasis on the term ‘Erotic”, because the eyes can most easily lead you to this sin more than all the others.
-Choosing to see with “pure” eyes, is where you need to practice. It comes automatically after a time it involves coming up with a predefined non-negotiable boundary in your mental capacity, to block out any impure thoughts that might try to invade your mind. Next, it is to choose to see purely, blocking any erotic feelings that may want to invade, within the first two seconds of feeling them want to start becoming manifest. Don’t think about it, just block it. And anytime you start to feel that a feeling of loss or boredom is coming soon after blocking the erotic feelings, do not disapprove of them. Aim to get them, because this is a sure sign that you are winning the battle against your emotions. Feelings of boredom or loss are not necessarily bad, society has perceived them as bad and has made people believe on a mass spectrum that they are bad feelings to get. But as a Christian, you should realize that emotions can be used against you. Not just the emotions themselves but the perceptions of these emotions. Emotional mastery will involve you having a different perception of them, but that is a topic for another day.
2.) WHAT WE HEAR.
Another portal to our minds is through the ears.
What we listen to either consciously or subconsciously changes who we are entire. I have seen with my own eyes ( no pan intended) how someone with low self-esteem and low confidence developed severe confidence in a month after simply listening to confidence Subliminals. I have also seen a very staunch, God-fearing Christian becoming an atheist, just because of listening to certain types of music.
What we listen to has a great impact on how we think and what we think. Thought creates imagination, and imagination plus belief gives power to action.
The danger of leaving your ears open to any kind of thing, say music, is that you are making yourself highly susceptible to mind control and being ultimately cursed through spells that seem to be released in today’s music. Yes, I said it, spells. There is witchcraft taking place in the entertainment industry that is carrying the agenda of targeting entire groups of generations whose effects you can see by simply opening your eyes. The world has gone crazy, there is the worship of money, objectification of bodies, and the blinding of people’s life purpose to simple searching for money and lust with occasional entertainment of violence, here and there. We are lost, and most of it is because we have all listened to the wrong things.
Music, especially music, is very powerful. It convinces, educates, it shapes how your mind works since it shapes the feelings involved around how your mind works. It is a force that should not be underestimated. It changes your attitudes in life, which in turn changes your habits, which change your character, and finally, your entire life. It is through words of mouth, that Eve heard that Eve ended up being manipulated into sin, and just like the original sin, we are being manipulated every day through song and spells in music away from God’s truth.
So how do we beat this portal of hearing?
-Same as eyes.
-Control what you listen to.
It is unfortunate for those that live in busy towns that they can’t control what it is that they hear, but even so, there is a lot you can control regarding what you listen to. Listening means getting information to understand what is going on. Luckily, the mind cant hear and listen at the same time. If you can remain conscious of what is going on through your ears, your subconscious will not interfere by capturing all the everyday noise going around you unnecessarily. Keep what you hear clean and Godly, and very soon, music will not affect you.
-Love what God Loves and Hates what God Hates. I found this to be very useful when I was detoxing from years of deadly music. I intentionally put an emotional imprint on anything that was being said that I didn’t like. At first, the feelings of disgust came in passing, over time, the feelings grew so severe that the disgust in my heart could not stand listening to “dirty” music to the point where I would feel nauseated every time I heard a rapper describe their version of lust in lyrics. Emotions are powerful, and if used well, if you control them well, it will be easy to get yourself out of the grip of most temptations by changing the perception of what you feel in what you want.
2.) WHAT WE TOUCH.
Touch is the most intimate of senses that we were blessed with on earth. So many times we have read of instances of polite kissing, embracing, and cuddling on the bosoms of fathers and mothers in the Bible in a way that expressed both God’s love and Sibling love…innocent and platonic. it was a communication of safety, comradery, comfort, and spiritual intimacy.
Over time, the world has converted touch into a taboo topic, where people became restrained and did not want to express their love to touch on one end, while on the other end, there is too much of it going on that it easily turns to lust. Nowadays, even acts of kissing have been turned into erotic acts and the worst is, it does not end there.
Touch has also been defiled in the sense that communication with the dead and other existential spirits is through this medium. Touch is not a portal, it is a mediation. In the old testament, God killed anyone that was not sanctioned or pure enough and had touched the Arc of the covenant. It was through this act of touching, whether accidental or not that they met their deaths. It was a medium of non-verbal communication between God and man. The same way that mediums must touch others so that they can be able to see the dead that the seeker has come to see, or how witches must hold hands when reciting a spell or how the Ouja board must be touched to communicate to the demons within the room or beyond.
It is intentional communication, proof of willingness to be intimate with someone, something, or some spirit. That is why it is among the most dangerous since most sins involving pleasure must involve touch. Lust, Greed, and Gluttony are the most disastrous to one’s spirit, one’s community, and one’s health respectively.
Amulets, rings, necklaces and braces have also been used by witches for millennia and the practice still continues today. Curses and demonic possessions might follow you if you are not faithful enough to God. All things produced by touch.
So how do I control what I touch?
-Be in control of who is in your life and the kind of touch that you will allow. You are the average of the five people that you have the most with. It is unfortunate that this rule of money also applies to character and the attitudes that you get from hanging around certain groups of people. If you hang around Lascivivious men and women that have no intention to change their behavior, it is only a matter of time before you find yourself in the same bed with them. After all, it’s just a scratch that needed itching, right? Be in control of who you call friends, and what you will entertain in your house. If you have a guitar in the house, consistently touching it over time, will produce music. If you have an ouija board in the house, consistent touching of it will invite a demon into your soul, and getting him out will not be easy, that is a guarantee. The devil is not known for easily releasing people from his strongholds on them, you have to fight hard to make that happen.
-Be in control of how you touch.
This world is 95% perception. The same thing goes for confidence but that is a different article for a different time. You have to have pure thoughts when it comes to touching anyone. Any time you touch a woman, you will want to picture yourself touching your daughter, that alone will give your actions limitations beyond which you cannot touch someone that you respect, You have to control the expectations that are surrounding the touch. Do not intend to be aroused sexually and you will not touch sensually. It is pretty simple to say but requires mastery to do.
CONCLUSION.
The devil will never give us a break and through what you see, hear or touch, he will find access to you one way or the other. These are gateways to your soul. It would be smart to be the guard at these doorways. Otherwise, the devil will freely get into and out of your life like a public toilet, leaving nothing clean in you that God will want to use. If God does not want to use you, you will never discover your real-life purpose. Living a life without one is going to be pretty miserable, no matter how many things you think you will do to succeed, you will never truly feel whole.
